Reading 101
Students within the Reading 101 classes will:
- Learn sounds through letter combinations
- Read words containing letter combinations
- Read words and modified versions
- Identify multi-syllabic words
- Read/write words containing base words and affixes
- Learn common affixes and their meanings
- Learn/recall vocabulary words and their meanings
- Read words accurately
- Read sentences aloud meeting a specified accuracy criterion
- Answer literal and informational comprehension questions
- Summarize the events of a story
- Answer questions about characters, setting, events, problems and solutions
- Identify/express the main idea of a selection
- Identify cause & effect
- Compare/contrast characters within a story
- Identify sequence of events
- Read passages resembling newspaper, magazine or textbook articles
- Read for rate and accuracy meeting specified rate and accuracy criteria
- Implement vocabulary words in sentences through writing
